Saturday 24 February 2001

Well, tomorrow I am off to New Zealand to do some research for my Honours Thesis in Psychology. I managed to get lucky and be in the right place at the right time to go. We are looking at coping strategies and goal orientation. If you are interested in finding out more then go to the Ironman New Zealand site.

As a result I will not be able to update this page until I get back home. I understand what a disappointment this is but I hope to have some good photos and news from across the Tasman Sea. So those of you who regularly visit my site will have to be patient.

Just another short post this morning. Two more poems added to My Poetry section.

I noticed from last weeks stats that I had some visitors from overseas. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all of the visitors to my site, especially the overseas ones. I would be very interested to hear your views or comments on some of the things that I rant about here. Sometimes I feel a bit isolated from mainstream thinking down here in Australia. So if you feel strongly about anything I have said, or anything in general, then send me a message! I would love to hear from you!

Only a small update to the site today. I think I have worked out the network problems now and have all my computers running well. This is a really good thing as I am supposed to get some real work done before I go away to New Zealand next week.

The only thing I have been able to add over the past few days is a poem that I wrote about 5 years ago. It is called Afterimages and you can find it in the Poetry section.

LAN Party went well. We mostly played HalfLife mods with a bit of Colin McRae Rally 2.0 thrown in for fun. After some minor and not so minor network glitches, we successfully managed to get everyone into the same game. Day of Defeat beta 1.1 was played for several hours. The upgrade was only noticeable in the fact that there were fewer glitches, the graphics seemed smoother, and the network code ran like a dream! Firearms 2.4 was also played and I must say that the models look incredible. Last time I played it was only at 2.1 and they have come a long way since then.

We played the required Counterstrike, but as a group we seem to be tiring of it. A couple tried to play a game of Giants, but quickly became bored with Kabuto just being too strong to combat, even with 8 opponents (4 Reapers & 4 Meccs). It is a shame about the balance issues as it really is a great game single player.

Our local elections are over now and the result was a resounding victory for the liars and cheats. Yep, you guessed it...........the politicians won every seat! The local Labor party won the day with an increased majority, despite the fact that they had no policies and based their campaign on slander and misrepresentation. The public gave this type of campaigning a big hearty thumbs-up and it is sure to be used again in the Federal Elections this year. Probably with the same result! I really don't know why we bother voting. It seems that there is absolutely no difference in the way we live, or the way we are taxed, despite a change in government. I think I'll have to start my own peoples party and change the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (said with tongue firmly planted in cheek).

Great, that's just what the world needs more of............another Megalomaniac!

Probably wont be updating the page for a few days as I am having a few problems with my system and I may need to take it down for a couple of days to fix the problem.

Saturday 17 February 2001

Well I'm off to another LAN Party tonight and I am sure we will be playing Day of Defeat (mod for Half Life) which has just been updated to version 1.1beta. If you haven't go the mod yet you can download it from here. I don't know if we will play anything new or exciting but I'll let you know on Sunday if we do.

Well now I'm off to vote for some politician who will be a party puppet and refuse to serve the people in accordance with the democratic principles that got them elected in the first place.

Sorry to go on about politicians so much but I really think that there is a better way of doing this. If you have any ideas on how to change the system then let me know.

Friday 16 February 2001

Have tried out some new colour schemes and added a few Windows 2000 links to my web page. I quite like this scheme and will probably stay with this for a while, unless you let me know about any problems! I plan to create some buttons for the navigation bar and change the outside columns somewhat but that will be in the next couple of weeks!

I have also added some of my poetry, so if you'd like to check it out and let me know what you think, then feel free.

Ah, politicians.......What would we do without them????? Tomorrow is our state election and I really think that the public will vote with their conscience and we will get the politicians that we deserve........................NOT!!! Despite the fact that the members of the local Labour Party have been found to be guilty of vote fixing, I firmly believe that they will retain power after the election. Not that the Coalition politicians are any better. Neither party has come up with any new or effective ways to deal with the increasing problems that our society is developing, nor have they advanced any differences in the way that they do business on a day to day basis. How can they justify their positions as representatives of the public when they don't even care about them? Isn't western democracy wonderful!

Thursday 15 February 2001

Well the local state elections are being held here in sunny Queensland this weekend and I am amazed, no actually stunned, at the depths to which our politicians will go to to pull the wool over the publics eyes. We have this campaign war between the two major parties which centres around all the bad things that they have done or are likely to do, but which completely avoids any actual discussion of policy statements. All we get is a bunch of worn out political hacks behaving as if they were 7 year old children vying for the school bullies position. The thing that really amazes me is that the public actually allow it to happen without asking any real questions. Sometimes I am ashamed to be called an Australian!

For those few people who visit this site at present (most of you are in Queensland) please let me know your feelings about politicians and this election. I will definitely post them as I haven't got much else up here yet.

Welcome to my humble site. I hope you return often enjoy the idle rantings of this poor deluded human!

Presently this site is undergoing development and will, over the next few weeks, be gradually enhanced to create a complete site.

This site serves a number of diverse purposes. The first is as a small gaming news site for those interested in the recently released games from the perspective of an average game player! Secondly it serves as a vehicle to publish my poetry creations. Thirdly, and most importantly, I hope this will serve as a venue where I can air some of the things that really tick me off in life. As the site progresses, I hope to incorporate comments and postings from anyone who contacts me and wishes to share their views. My opinions are my own and I am certainly open to differences and aim to present both sides of the story fairly and appropriately.
