Sadness
Regret
A time, so long ago,
Only the pain remains.
A woman,
Long dark hair,
Wide brown eyes
A childish innocence, mixed
With virility and lust.
Her eyes smouldered with secrets
Locked within a personality that
Never quite came to grips with itself.
Never without company,
But, sadly, always alone.
A drug induced reality
Oozes its way out of her fine china white skin.
The smell,
Heightened sexual excitement,
Tastes bitter when you're down.
A man, a season,
A light, a tunnel,
A distant grasp at happiness
Dances just out of reach of those slender white hands.
A tradition of aloofness, like Rapunzel,
Binds her to her fate.
Honour,
A family heirloom drifts
Uneasily on a sea of decadence.
Love - a life raft too far away.
Time, a difficult master,
Whips savagely at her beauty.
An addled head,
A ravaged heart,
Are all that's left of Life's excesses.
A screech of brakes,
Flashing lights,
A knock!
A muffled cry.
A flash! It's gone.
All that had meaning - vanished!
A dingy room, the smell of ink,
The after image of the flash.
Her beauty now captured,
Her face now mingled with evil.
The cold steel clang as they close the door
And she swears it was just for 'personal use'.
The tears stain those china cheeks
In rivers of black and white.
Wide eyes cracked red with sorrow
Stare hopelessly through the bars at a
Pale white, hope stained, wall of despair.
The 'Beak' glares down his hawkish nose
Announcing her crimes to all -
(But does he really know what crime there is?
Is it within us all?)
"Four years!" he cries
And inside her dies and cringes against the wall
of loneliness, constructed from the tears of fitting in.
Her life,
Dead before it really begins.
A child playing innocently in the sand.
A young girl laughing in a drug induced stupor.
A woman shivering, alone, in a cold dank cell.
Cold turkey, Cyberhell.
A Phoenix!
Will she rise?
