The new,
The unusual,
The not done very often……….
Evokes echoes of inadequacies in those around us
like the haunting strings of some sombre symphony,
conjuring up emotions long buried.

Do they know?
Can they do it?
Never asking, always expecting failure.

To try is to invoke anger.
To show knowledge is to invoke fear.
To do is to invoke attack.
To succeed invokes ridicule.

There are none so good as those not present.
Always another knows more, can do better.
No credit for the one present.
No thought for feeling or pain.
To hurt their only intent.
Perhaps if they do it, they won't need me!

Control…… slipping.
Worth……. Eroding.
Inactivity all that remains.

And should the expectation of failure be realised?
Smug "I told you so" 's fill the air with bitterness and contempt.
Another story to retain control.
Personal politics ensure
Everyone has their place……
And everyone is kept in it!

Performance erodes the security of superiority
Unsure of position
The organism fights back.
Derision, like acid,
Pours forth to erode the greatest achievement.

It is a wonder anything ever gets done
The motivation and control sublime in the extreme.
Guilt and praise go hand in hand with subversion and control.
So, why such great expectations when we are conditioned to fail??
