The sea.
Wide windswept watery wasteland
Devoid of passion and longing
Only hunger.
Waves roll endlessly across the vast expanse of our minds.
Ripples that ebb and flow with the tides of our emotions.
Passion
Desire
Hunger
It is that which calls me to the vastness of that trackless expanse.
Draws me like a magnet
Like a sweet Siren's song,
Pulls me deep within its soulless bosom.
To hope!
Means nothing here.
For hope is swallowed whole in the inky maw of that ravenous ocean.
Its' denizens,
Cold, silent beasts, Echo the sadness of my heart.
And in the end?
When I am washed ashore by the currents of my life?
An everlasting watery grave will greet me.
The sea.
